The Pamporovo complex is the biggest
ski resort in Bulgaria.
It is situated in the core of Rhodopi Mountain, 260 km from the capital Sofia and 85 km south from the second largest city –Plovdiv.
There are airports in both cities although at the moment international flights only land in Sofia. From Sofia, as well as Plovdiv, one can easily reach Pamporovo with the direct autobus route, or with a car.
Smolqn
It is the administrative center of the region, is situated 11 km south from Pamporovo. The town is a lively student and youth center, which provides a wide range of entertainment and cultural life.
Climate

Here the climate is mild, without drastic changes in weather and with little wind. The snow –cover can stay for more than 150 days in the year, its average thickness is 140-150 centimeters, and it often can reach 2 m.
The average temperature during winter is -3°C.
Pamporovo is 1650 m above the sea-level, in the foot of peak Snejanka (1926 m), from here the ski slopes descend towards the resort and the famous lakes of Smolqn.
Pamporovo ski holidays - conditions

In the region of Pamporovo the snow remains for, on average, over 150 days per year and the snow cover is stable, sometimes reaching as much as 2m.
The season is most appropriate for skiing and snowboarding, and begins from the end of November and lasts until the end of April.
The ski slopes in Pamporovo are found between 1925 and 2000 m above sea level.
All the slopes have varying degrees of difficulty with a total length of over 17 000 m.
There is something here for everyone, beginners and more experienced skiers alike.
For the lovers of ski- running and biathlon there are tracks around peak Snejanka and a shooting ground in the area of Qzovira, as well.
The rope lines and the chairlifts, which serve the slopes, have a capacity of 7000 persons per hour, more than enough to save the visitor from endless queuing.
In the
Pamporovo resort there are ski schools, which offer highly qualified ski and snowboard training at all levels.
In the resort, during the ski season, national and international competitions of ski disciplines are held. Ski- running, ski- orientation, biathlon, as well as the biggest Bulgarian competitions for snow board- free style.
If you do not have ski or snowboard equipment of your own, you can rent it for one, three, or six days from one of the fifteen ski wardrobes in Pamporovo.

property in Pamporovo,
close to the slopes.
If you are a regular skier, you can take advantage of your purchase by renting out the apartment to fellow ski lovers while you are not there, and recoup part of your investment.
At the very least, by buying your own apartment or chalet, you can feel at home away from home, while reducing your holiday costs and maintain your privacy by not having to stay in one of the many hotels in the area.
