Ski in Bulgaria

Skiing in Bulgaria is on the increase. If you are into skiing, look no further: SKI BULGARIA!

Bansko is Bulgaria’s number one and favourite ski resort, having the best and most modern equipment in Bulgaria’s entire ski resorts. In recent years a multi-million euro investment has been made, new ski lifts and facilities, and also a brand new resort area with new hotels and holiday apartments. You will find Bansko situated by the Glazane River in the North Eastern foot of Pirin, One of the most beautiful parts of the area, 160 kilometres from Sofia and only 6 kilometres from Razlog.

Ski Mount PirinThe town of Bansko is 925 metres above sea level and the ski area is between 2000 and 2600 metres above sea level. The ski slopes can be found at firstly, Chalin Valog at a height of between 1100 and 1600 metres and secondly at Shiligarnika 1700 to 2500 metres. Both areas are approximately 10 kilometres above the town and are easily accessible by the new gondola lift in 25 minutes which start from the centre of Bansko. In total the marked slopes are around 60 kilometres in length.

Ski BulgariaThis resort has not been well known until recently, but it is now gaining more and more popularity, due to its long ski season, from the 15 December until 15 May, new facilities and a growing reputation between skiers.

The slopes offer different grades of difficulty, so offering something for everyone, from the novice to the advanced skier. Slalom and giant slalom tracks are available and the resort of Bansko also has a 5 kilometre country track.

Snowboarding is also on the agenda at Bansko. Snowboarders can enjoy the first fun park, build and share their own jumps, enter and take part in the competitions held on the new slope at Shiligarnika.

Borovets is the oldest ski resort in Bulgaria. It can be found on the Boverets col and the Northern slopes of the Mousala ridge in the Eastern part of Rila. Hidden away within pine woods and 1390 metres above sea level Borovets is a wonderful setting for skiing in Bulgaria. The winter in the resort is mild and of course there is plenty of snow. There is usually snow cover from mid December until April and the resort has a reputation for being clean and fresh.

Ski BorovetsBovorets is easy to reach, a mere 70 kilometres from Sofia and only 12 kilometres from Samokov by road. There is also regular transport by bus to and from Samokov every 30 minutes. In Bovorets there is around 45 kilometres of slopes of varying degree of difficulty and length. The slopes on Qstreec are considered to be the best and the competitions are held there. It has twice hosted World Cup competitions in Alpine Skiing.

Borovets is a resort which provides good conditions for all types of Alpine sports. Snowboarding, cross country skiing, night-skiing and ski jumps to name a few. Like Bansko you will find the resort complete with high class hotels, shops, restaurants and discos.

Ski PamporovoPamporovo ski resort is found in the Rhodopi mountains. It is the most Southern ski resort in Europe and the sunniest Bulgarian ski resort with great quality snow throughout the season. It is located 1650 metres above sea level, at the foot of Snejanka. It is far from Sofia, 240 kilometres in fact, but only 85 kilometres from the beautiful town of Plovdiv. The ski season starts from mid December to mid April and on average boasts 120 sunny days during the season. The slopes and the conditions here make the resort a perfect choice for the beginner, but there is still the Giant ski run which is an excellent proposition for the more experienced skier. The slopes are maintained in excellent condition and there are plenty of instructors fluent in many different languages willing to help and advise all those who need it.
