Where is Borovets?
Borovets is the oldest and arguably the most popular of the
Bulgarian ski resorts. The ski school in Borovets has the highest of reputations. The resort often hosts World Cup competitions in Alpine skiing and offers ski runs for all capabilities. There are cross country biathlon tracks, scenic routes and excursions to the Rila Monastery which is only 70km away.
Borovets is 2200 years old and is rich in history and offers churches and cathedrals of wonderful design. Ottoman heritage is abundant here, there being several mosques that can also be visited. Modern Borovets enjoys many bars, cafes and night clubs for people to enjoy into the night, there are reasonable prices and special �happy hour� discounts. Here you can enjoy international music, but many bars also entertain their guests with traditional Bulgarian folk music.
Borovets is within the Rila Mountain range some 50 km from Sofia. The nearest town is Samokov. The whole area is undergoing dramatic change with the �Super Borovets� project which will improve, modernise and increase the 16 ski lifts and ski slopes that the tourist zone already enjoys.
